Walgreen's EasySaver Program Ends Today

You may know that Walgreen's has had two "money-back" programs -- Register Rewards that print out in the store and the little EasySaver booklet of rebates you can send in for. Well, according to many online reports, they're shutting down EasySaver as of today.
I can see why they wouldn't want to have more than one program. But it's sad because in the past if you had Register Rewards, EasySaver was a good way to turn them into gift cards instead. You could spend your RRs on something with a full rebate, then go online and ask for the rebate on a gift card.
Wag's is apparently going to offer more RR deals each week to make up for the end of the other program. We'll watch for that.
I don't like RRs as well as I like CVS' ExtraBucks because they expire more quickly, you can't roll them back onto the same deal again, and I seem to have more problems getting them to print.
Meanwhile, CVS has stopped putting out a monthly ExtraBucks deals booklet and replaced it with "clip-free" coupons. This is also a disappointment, because until recent months the BEST ECB deals were in those monthly books.
I picked up the new May clip-free coupon book at my CVS yesterday. It's a much smaller format than the old ECBs book. There is only one ECB deal in there, on V8 and V8 Splash.
By the way, if you miss getting the "double my extrabucks" coupon in this week's flyer, there is also one on the back of this little book. It just says you'll get 2ECBs for every prescription instead of 1. Strangely, though, I have never received ANY ECBs for scrips and neither have other people I know. I thought they had ended that program and when I asked about it at the store I was told as much.

The book expired last Saturday. Huge bummer. I mean, we were sad when double dips ended, and now really sad. Besides the rebates, the coupons in that book always made for GREAT deals!

I, too, hate RRs. They don't always work, and the employees don't really know what to do with them, etc. argh. and yes, deals getting slimmer at CVS. We'll just have to be more resourceful!

i always get hassled if I'm using coupons and rr. gift cards from the easysaver were so nice, especially since they didn't expire so they could be used whenever, on whatever.

I think I would just have to stay with Rite Aid and their online rebate program. I saw some cool offers this week. Its been a bit dry lately.

I got a Q in the mail to double my prescription ECBs, and it specified that the ECBs print out with your quarterly ECBs. So that might be why you don't notice getting them? I haven't been CVSing long enough to know for sure if this works as advertised.....

I have gotten $1 for my scripts in the past, but there are times when I think I should have gotten it, but didn't. I transfer my monthly script between cvs and dominicks, so I could go there twice per quarter, plus sometimes hubby takes his...I just don't think I always get it. Oh well!
