Restaurant.com Chicago Steals

Mir at Wantnot.net helpfully pointed out today that the coupons at Restaurant.com have gone 80% off today with the code LUCKY -- which means you can buy $25 worth of restaurant food for $2.
This is a great deal for ANY restaurant, and yes I have tried Restaurant.com before and it is totally legit and I have never had a hassle using the certificates, which you print from your computer. But some restaurants put more restrictions on use of these certificates than others.
That's why I was excited to notice that an Oak Park restaurant, La Bella Pasteria, is on there and at least its $10 certs are good for takeout or delivery. A lot of places say you have to eat in and not only do Epu and I not get out that much, but eating in always adds up to a larger bill since we'll order wine and of course have to pay a gratuity (the $25 cert at La Bella requires an 18% tip, for instance).
It seems that the $10 certs at La Bella are only good for lunch, which they serve Thurs and Fri, with a $25 minimum order. I'm thinking I will get one and some Friday I will order $25 worth of food at lunchtime, pick it up and stick it in the fridge for a Friday night treat. Should cost me 60 cents for the cert plus $15 for the rest of the bill, plus tax, so we could get an extra-nice takeout meal (the place gets good reviews on Yelp) for under $20.
Their $25 certs, which are good for dinner with a $50 minimum, are out of stock -- I'll let you know if I see them on clearance at the end of next month.
Some other good Chicago-area places on Restaurant.com that are not yet out of stock this month:
The Cubby Bear, $25 cert with a $35 minimum and an 18% gratuity tacked on
Le Peep in Evanston (I like this place), $10 cert with $25 minimum purchase
Orange With Apeel, dine in M-F, $25 cert with $50 minimum (which excludes drinks but we went there and I think they included our juice drinks in the minimum), 18% tip added
Kaze Sushi in Roscoe Village $25 cert good Sun-Wed for dinner w/ a $75 minimum. This place is divine, the best sushi I've had in the Midwest. I'm snagging one of these certs to take my husband for his birthday in June. Shhh!

You can order Restaurant.com generic gift certificates for 80% off too. Then on the first of the month you can use the gift certificated to buy restaurant specific gift certificates. It gives you more choices at the beginning of the month for the same discount you get at the end of the month.

shortstack, you're welcome!

Anon -- That is a GREAT tip! I actually have a restaurant.com gift cert sitting on my account and was wondering what I could do with it. That's genius!
