Large Refrigerator Recall

I just happened to see this item on the local news today: Maytag is recalling 1.6 million refrigerators due to SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD. Brand include Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley.
I may not have even realized I had a Maytag fridge, except that I happened to get an envelop in the mail from them today. It wasn't about the recall though -- they wanted me to know it's time to change my water filter. Heh.
If it turns out we're getting a new fridge, I'll be glad I didn't buy extra water filters more than one year ahead. Actually, though, the release says if you're included (the site tells you how to determine that, or you can call Maytag at (866) 533-9817), they'll do a free in-home repair.
I'm off to check my serial number. But this reminds me to share with you a Wise Bread post I wrote awhile back when our DVD player broke and we found out it had been recalled so we got a free replacement:
It Broke? Check for a Recall
Update: Yep, we're included in the recall. Scheduled repair for Thurs. morning through the Web site. Sure hope they show up when they say they will. I don't really like the idea of sleeping with a fire hazard and if they don't make their four-hour window I have no idea when we could reschedule, we are so busy this month.
