Grocery Deals -- 1/22-1/28 DOMINICKS/SAFEWAY

Ahhh, every other Wednesday is my favorite day. The day the cleaning lady came while I had the kids out at the play gym. And with sunshine and a balmy 29-degree temperature, I just came back from a brisk walk from preschool and put to bed a toddler who was actually ASKING to go night-night. And now I'm having Lindor Truffles with my coffee.

This is what they call bliss, no? And what else is blissful? You know ... shopping deals at Dominick's are, kind of? No?

Here are your blissful deals for the week:

Perdue boneless skinless chicken breasts, $6.99 for a 3-lb frozen box ($2.33 a pound)
Wonder if the $2/1 fully cooked Perdue frozen chicken coupon on would work?

Use two $1/2 from 1/4 RedPlum to get 5 boxes for about $4
OR that $3/5 coupon from recent grocery flyers to get 5 for $3!

Chicken of the Sea tuna, 5 oz. can for 79 cents (I don't even know if this is a great deal but I have been craving tuna lately. And yes, I know it contains neurotoxins. I'm trying to grow a fetus that can be its own circus act, like in "Geek Love." OK?)

Actually chunk light (as opposed to white or sushi-quality) tuna is low in mercury and widely considered safe during pregnancy. And since Omega-3s in fish are good for brain development, I say go get a tuna melt. It was my favorite food while pregnant.

Yeah, it's a tough call. The environmental reporter for the Chronicle once urged me to stop even once-a-month tuna intake during pregnancy. And the Consumers Union and Consumer Reports have both advised that pregnant women avoid canned tuna. ( So I keep it to the very occasional tuna sandwich.

Then again, your kids are pretty smart. Certainly not circus geeks.

Hey, just wondering if you are getting the milk for $.99/gallon as well? I received a flyer in the mail from Dominick's with my "Personalized Savings" linked directly to my card. It includes a -$1/gallon milk. I bought like 6 gallons the week before when it was on sale for $1.99. We are drinking milk here like it's going out of style.
