LL Bean Anticipates Shoppers Lining Up All Night

Oy, vey. Remember when I told you the new L L Bean in Skokie will give gift cards to the first 500 shoppers when it opens at 9 a.m. Friday? Today's Tribune says the store expects people to wait in line all night long.

Sheesh. I like a good gift card, but even I won't do that. I mean, they said the gift cards will be worth UP TO $500. As far as we know, that may mean they're giving 499 $5 cards and one $500 one, you know?

Oh well, anyway, the new store will be open around the clock all weekend, and it says shoppers who come after 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday will get give-aways, refreshments and live music.

Personally, I'll stick to checking the weekly L L Bean Thursday markdown. Today it's a fancy means shirt that's supposed to keep them cool in hot weather, marked down to 20 bucks from 40 bucks.
