Aargh, Shopping OFF the Internet

I've gotten so many good deals already on Christmas shopping this year by prowling Amazon
and with tips from Wantnot.net. So I don't know why I was compelled to schlep the kids in the car to a suburban shopping center and hit the Macy's sale this morning.

I had seen a specific item in the ad that I wanted to get for my mom. With the $10 coupon offered in the paper, the item would be down to half price and a good price for a Christmas gift. And I did get it, thank goodness -- I would have been really pissed if it was one of those things that they advertise and then only have a couple of.

But the coupon had a zillion exclusions, including anything electric, so I couldn't use it. It was still a decent deal, but it took all morning, I had to feed the kids at a drive-through, Nutmeg was late for school, and of course I used a ton of gas driving over there. Really, I'm sure I'll see an as-good or better deal on Amazon before long and I'll really kick myself for wasting the whole morning over there.

I did get to try on a couple of coats, which was my other motive for going. But with two little kids, of course I did not get so far as to actually buy a coat. Oh, and Nutmeg enjoyed looking at the decorated Xmas trees they had there. But still. Meh.
