New Schedule for My Grocery Posts

Hi readers! Just wanted to let you know that I've decided to change the beginning and end days of my shopping week. From now on, I will begin my shopping week on Wednesday, when the new grocery flyers come out. The last day of my week will be Tuesday, so I'll post about how we did each week midweek, instead of on the weekend.

I'll still be posting about CVS on weekends. That's one of the reasons I'm making the change -- what with posting about my previous week's CVS haul and my next week's CVS plan, as well as any special deals noted in the Sunday ads each weekend, it's just too much volume.

Also, I think it just makes sense to get my new shopping budget when the flyers come out.

So, without further ado, here's how we did for the week of Wednesday, Oct. 1, through Tuesday, Oct. 7:


organic pumpkin*, organic hulled barley, organic strawberries, frozen edamame, hormone-free yogurt, 6-pack beer, organic mustard greens, organic bananas.

* We are STILL eating that pumpkin. You will never believe it when I post about how many meals we have gotton out of that thing. Best $6 I ever spent.

JEWEL: $27

clearanced Mac n Cheese, broccoli, organic celery, bananas, orange juice, sugar, cage-free eggs, 2 pounds pearled barley, 1 pound split peas, 1 Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta.

I supplemented that with 2 or 3 gallons free milk from CVS. I also added a couple boxes of granola bars to my pantry for free through the KMart deal.

All in all I didn't really find any special deals this week. The only reason it looks like I underspent is because I just changed the schedule. I did go pretty light on groceries for the past week or so, but I am now out of nearly everything so tomorrow or the next day I will definitely hit the stores.
