Free and Cheap Songs on Lala.com

This Web site is selling songs in two-tiered pricing:

For just a dime, you can listen to it unlimited times, online only (so you couldn't transfer to your iPod or anything).

For 89 cents, you can download a regular mp3.

Now here's what's free:

  • You can listen to any song or album the first time for free.
  • When you sign up, the first 50 songs you add to your Web collection (i.e., listen online, not downloads) are free.
  • You can also get any song you ALREADY HAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER into your Web collection for free.
I think that last part is intriguing. For example, you should be able to use it to access all the songs on your home computer via the Web while you're at work.

By the way, if you don't already use Pandora.com, that's another great place to listen to free music. However, at Pandora you have less control about what you hear -- you start with a song or artist you want to hear, but after that they play songs that they think you will like based on your first choice.
