Family Fun Friday: It's Free Museum Season

I lot of the Chicago area attractions don't start having free days until October. Which is now! One freebie I recommend taking advantage of in this early part of the off-season is the Brookfield Zoo. Now, there are plenty of indoor things to do at the zoo in the dead of winter, but still, it's awful nice to go there for free on a brilliantly sunny autumn day. Like today.

Except it ain't free today, it's free Tuesdays and Thursdays, for the rest of 2008.

A few more museum-type freebies now available:

Adler Planetarium is free Mondays and Tuesdays in October and November. Go see why they need that new projector that the federal government didn't pay for.

The Shedd Aquarium is free Mon and Tues in October, and Mon, Tues AND Wed in November. And apparently they have some extra spooky nocturnal creatures on display for the season.

The Field Museum has free second Mondays all year round, and is also free for the whole week of Oct. 26-31. And they have that new family play center there.

A couple good places to find out more about free stuff to do:
