I Did It, I Bought New Pots and Pans

One of the main things that has come up again and again in my frugal adventure is balancing my family's health and my family's finances. One thing in particular that's been bothering me lately is the state of our non-stick pots and pans. There have been warnings that this coating could be hazardous to health when it starts scraping off. Ours, which I bought just after Nutmeg was born in 2004 at Macy's for something like $25, were scraping quite a bit.

So today, when I saw on Wantnot.net that there was a full set of Cuisinart stainless steel cookware in the Amazon Friday sale, I decided to hold my breath and take the plunge. The set cost $149, list price $520. It has eight pans, which is more than I really need -- I only have six pan hooks on my hanging rack. But it was a far bigger markdown than a smaller set I saw. I figured, hey, if I really don't find I'm using those extra saucepans, I'll give them away or sell them.

There are a couple other nice professional-like sets on the Friday sale today. If you're also in the market, follow the link on Wantnot.net.
