Did the Pampers Deal at Toys R Us -- Not Bad, Not Amazing

UPDATE: THERE IS ANOTHER COUPON FOR THIS SAME DEAL IN THE SUNDAY PAPER, EXPIRING 9/13/08.

The good news is, we don't need to worry about buying diapers for a long, long time. Like maybe 10 to 12 weeks. It's ironic that we just bought two giNORmous boxes of diapers today, because Pebbles keeps trying to pull off her diaper, saying, "go potty, go potty." Mind you, she doesn't know how to use the potty yet -- she's only 19 months -- but she knows she wants to be like her big sis. It's an encouraging sign.

So here's how the Pampers deal went down at ToysRUs:

2 boxes of 160 diapers each $80 + tax
---------------------------------------------
- 4 Pampers mq (got in the mail)
1.50 Pampers mq
10.00 gift card
-------
64.50 + tax for 320 diapers (Size 3)

So usually I buy packs of about 35 diapers at CVS, and the best sale the name-brand ones go on is usually $8.99, and I'd use at least $1/1 mq to make it $7.99. So the big box I bought for $32.25 is really 4.5 small packs. So it's like I got the small pack for $7.16.

Which is OK. I haven't actually checked to see if any diapers go on sale at CVS before the $2/$10 CVS q expires at the end of this month, but if they do I *might* have been able to do better there. Especially with the CVS brand diapers which have worked fine for us.

But still: A pretty good price for diapers and now we don't have to worry about them for months.
