The Thrill of Victory, the Agony of Defeat

Had two photo books made at CVS today, one for a gift for friends I'll be staying with, one identical one for my family. I used a $3/$15 coupon, paid $13 Extra Bucks and 2 cents tax, and got $16ECBs back.

Sayeth the cashier, "I have to start taking lessons from you."

I wasn't able to use the only Kodak coupon I had, because it said 8x10 collage on it. I don't know why, but I guess my local circulars didn't have the same Kodak coupons mentioned elsewhere that would have worked on the photobooks.

In less happy frugal news, I tried shopping through Parenting Privileges today for the first time, and something seems to have gone wrong. I bought a $750 laptop from BestBuy.com, and was supposed to get 3% cash back. So far, I see nothing in my account. I have emailed customer care and am hoping it just takes some time to show up. That's $22.50 and I would like it, please!

(Updated to add: Parenting Privileges promptly returned my email and said that credits within 30 days. So hopefully I will get it.)

Also less happy but not entirely unexpected is CVS's reply to my plea to renew the expired ExtraBucks I recently found in my receipt box.

As of April 1st 2007, we have changed the way you receive your circular promotion reward. You no longer have to wait the two days and make an additional purchase to receive your rewards coupon. The instant buck coupon will print instantly at the time the qualifying purchase has been made. Now that the rewards print instantly you will have 30 days to redeem them. Re-issuance of the Instant Bucks is not available at this time. Please keep in mind that the instant bucks cannot be printed or redeemed on the website however, you can view your promotional history on your online account.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope you have a nice day.

Sincerely, etc.
Well, at least he hoped I had a nice day. And I pretty much did. After all, I am getting a new laptop and all.
