Meatless Monday: Pretty Blah This Week

OK, it was tasty, but no special recipes this week: Cheese omelettes with fried potatoes and sauteed carrots. Oh, but dessert was two pounds of strawberries covered with whipped cream and graham cracker crumbs. Nutmeg came up with that "recipe," so we called it "strawberries a la Nutmeg." The berries were $1.22 a pound at Dominick's, and at this point in the season, they are mostly at the peak of sweetness with a few having gone a little too far.

That taste combination brings back memories of having big flats of strawberries around from the U-Pick farm. It's a good thing, as you-know-who would say.

I heard a story on NPR today about the popularity of couponing and money saving blogs...and, of course, I thought of you.
I think this is such a great idea, and I wish someone out here would do it. We have none of the same stores you do, so I'm just sad when I flip over here and see all the great deals you get. *sigh*
Maybe *I* should be that *someone*... something to think about....

Thanks for the heads up, since I'm pitching some freelance writing on this topic too, I can use that for research!

By the way, Moneysavingmom.com posts all kinds of regional store deals from across the country. I don't know if it covers where you are, tho ... that's pretty far out there ;-)
