Two Yummy Cheap Things

I bought three bottles of cheap wine at Woodman's this week. The sign said they were "from the makers of Charles Shaw" or something like that. Charles Shaw, as you may know, is the company whose wine is sold at Trader Joe's for $2.99 and is often referred to as "2-Buck Chuck."

I was surprised and confused by the link to Charles Shaw. If it was made by the maker of Charles Shaw, why not just call it Charles Shaw? According to the Snopes link above, Charles Shaw is made by Bronco Wines, so I guess anything this large wine company makes could be linked to the Shaw.

Anyway, I tried it, and it is good. I'm very happy because I don't know when TJ's is finally going to arrive in Oak Park, but I can conveniently hit the Woodmans in Kenosha now and then. If they have it next time, I'll buy a case.

Here are the names of the wines, which both sold for $3.29. I found them both tasty:

Fox Brook Shiraz
Crane Lake Pinot Grigio

The other yummy cheap thing? Chex Mix. For some reason I thought I didn't care for it, and I was planning to give away the little pile of free bags I brought home this week from CVS. But tonight, since dinner was running late, I popped open a bag to appease the masses. I tried a handful myself, then another, and another. MMM. I like Chex Mix. I do, I like it, Sam-I-am!
