Cheerios Coupons/Pampers - updated AGAIN

This week I took advantage of the "buy $20, get 5ECB" Pampers deal at CVS. I had a number of $2/2 coupons from the previous and current P&G Saver, and I had some $1.50/1 coupons that I got off of Cheerios boxes.

First I bought two packs of Pampers wipes ($3 each) along with some other items in a $15 transaction, using one of the $2/2 coupons.

Then I bought two $8 Jumbo packs of 40 diapers (for size 3), using two $1.50/1 coupons along with a $2/2. Not all CVSs will allow you to use 3 coupons on 2 items like that.

In the end I think I paid around $12 in ECBs for the Pampers and wipes, and got $5 back. Decent, right?

But the Pampers each have a $1.50 off Cheerios coupon in them! You can find these packages because they have a Cheerios logo on them, and you can feel the stiff coupon at the top of the plastic package.

Nutmeg, my 4-year-old, got on the train with this promo right away.

"We can use those to buy more Cheerios!" she said. "And then we can get coupons to buy more diapers! So we can buy more Cheerios! So we can buy more diapers!"

As it happens, I have a rain check for five boxes of Cheerios for $5 at Dominicks that I have to use this week, so I will definitely keep my eye out for any boxes that still have the Pampers coupons. If I get some, I'll probably do the Pampers deal again on my mother's account this week.

Updated to say: The second Pampers package I had turned out to contain a 50-cent coupon for "Swipers," which looks like extra-thick wipes to be used as washcloths. Wah!

Update No. 2: I felt up a bunch of Pampers packs at CVS yesterday and found that none of the ones left on the shelf had any stiff paper coupons inside, even though the packages had the Cheerios logo on them.

Also, if you get any Cheerios coupons, looks like next week CVS is offering ECBs for buying General Mills cereal.
